Christmas is approaching, times are tough, and we want to make the family happy. But how can we reconcile these opposing forces and still save money buying great value presents?
The secret is not to go for the obvious but to be clever about it. Make intelligent choices.
Here are two simple rules that help you not just in the run up to Christmas but anytime:
Rule #1: Buy great value, don’t buy cheap.
It’s obvious, cheap is cheap. It does not feel nice and, most importantly, cheap does not last. Buying cheap is not saving money but throwing it out of the window.
Rule #2: Buy top quality brands at deep discount.
Quality lasts and feels great, too. Bought at rock bottom prices, quality products will earn their keep and turn out cheap in the long run.
When you follow these 2 rules you cannot go wrong. You will save money and buy great value presents.
For good measure, here is a bonus rule:
Rule #3: Buy 1 present for the whole family.
Don’t spend your hard earned money on lots of little things that make the costs mount up at lightning speed. Buy one quality thing at deep discount that everyone can enjoy together.
Here is a list of resources for you. Check back often because I’ll keep adding to the list as and when I come across more great sites.
Do you enjoy taking great pictures?
Snap shots are nice but why not take great pictures instead? After having given up my SLR with several lenses for low cost auto-focus pocket cameras, I’m moving back. Rather than go for the cheap digital camera with its inherent limitations in spite of the myriad of features it offers, go for the top. Check out Best Canon Digital Cameras.
You’ll find a really great selection at great prices. What’s more, the selection at this site is not based on lab tests alone but on market evaluations of at least 14 different criteria made by thousands of buyers.
Perhaps you want to shoot for the top with full frame metering and all that a top of the range Nikon Digital SLR offers at pro level? Seeing is believing. Check out the Nikon D700 price here.
Tip: Don’t just keep the camera for yourself. Make it a family event. Create family movies or family slideshows together.
 Do you play?
Have fun playing games together or competing in your living room sports arena. The event of the year is just hitting the shops.
With Kinect, there is no controller, there literally are no strings attached. You play with your body and your voice. You ARE the controller. And Kinect is ready for up to 4 players right out of the box. All you need to do is get off the couch and have fun.
Want a new TV but unsure what to get?
A new TV set is an obvious choice. But how to choose and what to get? The market place is simply bewildering.
Check out Samsung LCD TV Models where you find a great selection of not only LCD TV Models but also LED TV models and plasma TV models plus reviews and best prices. It is a site where they took the time to check out what the market said not just what the manufacturers want to sell.
More great-value-additions to this list are in Part 2 of my review.
